Is it time for hospice?
It might be time for hospice if you or a loved one are experiencing any of the following:
- You are no longer wanting to continue aggressive treatment or chemotherapy
- A desire to not go back to the hospital or clinics for frequent tests or treatments
- Multiple comorbidities such as CHF, COPD, diabetes, dementia and renal failure
- Frequent Urinary Tract Infections (UTI’s), pneumonia, or other infections
- Wounds that do not heal
- Increased confusion and weakness
- Uncontrolled symptoms such as pain or shortness of breath
- Decreased speech or communication
- Significant weight loss
- Frequent falls and weakness
- Decrease in the amount of food or fluids being consumed
- Sleeping more
- Increased need for assistance with daily activities, such as walking, toileting or bathing
